ROCS

Energy generated from renewable resources carries a Renewables Obligation Certificate (ROC). ROCs are the government’s way of monitoring how much renewable electricity is used in the UK.

By 2010, the government aims to generate 10.4 percent of electricity from renewable resources.†It is hoped that ROCs will help the government reach its target.

ROCs are a market commodity and can be bought and sold independently.†Energy Companies are now being required to generate a minimum of 10% of their electricity output from sustainable sources. If they have not managed to produce the required amount of green energy, they must buy ROCs on the open market to make up the shortfall. If they fail to buy the required amount of ROCs, fines can be imposed.

Fleetsolve’s expertise in the field of sustainable fuelling has helped clients gain ROC credits through the use of renewable fuels in their processes.
