CHP provides environmental and economic advantages. By using one source of fuel to provide two streams of energy, a CHP system can reduce actual onsite energy bills, it reduces the levels of fuel consumption, and thus the levels of emissions are reduced. CHP operates at significantly higher efficiencies than standard power production, resulting in much less wasted energy. The heat produced by the CHP unit can also be used to supply heat to a chiller unit to produce cold water, and can provide energy security when used as back up generator.
